Sega CD Backup
Before you get started with your backups, you'll need some programs to work with. Check out the files section.
CDRWin 4.0A
-
Golden
Hawk Technology
The best cd image maker/burner there is. This is for bin/cue stuff.
Nero Burning Rom 5 - Ahead
Software
For our purposes, this is used primarily for iso-mp3 burning. Also does bin/cue
and of course nrg files, and most other general burning tasks. Ahead puts out
updated versions like every other hour, so go straight to their site for this.
CDmage B5 - CDmage homepage
Full featured cd image handler. This gets used to extract isos from bin/cues and
do mode conversions and whatever.
Exact Audio Copy V0.9 beta 4 - www.exactaudiocopy.de
Top notch cd audio ripper. If you're going to make mp3's, get it right from the
beginning.
winLAME rc3 -
winLAME homepage
Super excellent mp3 encoder and decoder. You might also want to grab
this pack of updated files.
Sega Cue Maker 1.0.11 - Lodger's
Makes cuesheets for games split into individual data and audio tracks (iso-mp3
style).
If you're using a version of any of these programs that is close but not the exact version I'm using, these instructions will likely still work for you. That is, assuming you're not a tard.
All these programs are demos or just free. Any demo software might be limited, so you'd have to register it to get full functionality. That usually means paying for a license. Just to be safe, you should give all these people money because they probably deserve it. While, you're at it, you can give me some too. Or just buy me something nice. I like getting stuff just as much as the next guy, as long as its not body parts. Come to think of it, getting some old bones in the mail would be cool. OK, no recently attached body parts, I guess old skeleton parts are allowed. But don't send me any with diseases or curses or anything. Better yet, why don't you get me a new Sega CD game. Ooh, or one of the Aiwa Mega CD players. Those rock.
